IPTV Backseat · Last updated 2026-10-22
Summary: IPTV Backseat does not collect any data. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking and no third-party SDK. We — the developer — receive nothing from the app.
What stays on your device
- Playlist links and files, and the server addresses you add.
- Xtream passwords and Jellyfin, Emby and Plex sign-in tokens — kept in the iOS Keychain on this device.
- Favorites, renamed or hidden items, watch progress, the trip queue and the trip log.
- Films you save for offline viewing.
- A small summary for the widgets and the Live Activity: titles and minutes only, never links or logins.
It is removed when you delete a source in Settings or delete the app.
Network connections
The app connects only to:
- The servers in the playlists and media servers you add — to load lists, artwork and video.
- Your own Jellyfin, Emby or Plex server, to report where you stopped watching so “continue watching” matches on your other devices.
- plex.tv, only when you choose to connect Plex: you approve Backseat on plex.tv, and your Plex password is never typed into Backseat.
- Websites you open yourself in the built-in browser.
Those servers are run by you or your provider, not by us; their own privacy policies apply.
Permissions
- Camera
- Only to scan a QR code that contains a playlist link. Nothing is recorded or stored.
- Local network
- Only to reach a media server on your home network, or to receive videos sent to Backseat from another app on the same Wi-Fi (when you turn that on).
- Live Activities
- Shows what is playing on the Lock Screen and CarPlay. You can turn it off in Settings › CarPlay & widgets.
Children
The app collects no data from anyone, including children.
